Before the untimely death of the legend Yash Chopra, the company had plans to create the premiere of Jab Tak Hai Jaan as a moving museum of the legends work. The plans are still on, and to make the premiere just a bit more special, all of Yash Chopra’s leading ladies are also invited. However, the question is will Kajol, who starred in the YRF classic and Indian cinema’s longest running film, Dilwale Dhulania Le Jayenge, also attend?
Kajol’s husband, Ajay Devgan, is releasing his movie Son of Sardar the same day! Though Kajol is very close to the Chopra family, it is hard to believe that Kajol will be able to attend the Jab Tak Hai Jaan premiere, especially since Ajay Devgn has filed a case against Yash Raj Films in the Competition Commission of India. Devgn accuses YRF of monopolistic practices.

The film industry had initially wanted the big budget movies to change their dates so they didn’t clash, but Devgn said he was not bothered by it. He said he wants both movies to work and there is room for both movies this Diwali. Industry insiders also wanted Ajay Devgn to change his release date as a tribute to Yash Chopra, but Shah Rukh Khan said that it would be unfair to ask anyone to reschedule a film and Yash Chopra would have wanted both films to do well.
A court case tends to make things awkward, no?
The premiere, however, has been made with grand plans in mind. Shah Rukh Khan, the leading man of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, told India Today about the premiere details.
“There will be a big screen, and a special sound system is being brought down by specialists who will make film-watching possible in areas which are not regular studios… It’ll be a moving museum of Yashji’s work, which kind of does not end, but continues with Jab Tak Hai Jaan. But somewhere down the line, the journey is still there.”
