Q’s ‘Tasher Desh' to be premiered at Rome Film Festival 2012!

Overdose Films has announced that its next film project ‘Tasher Desh’ (House of Cards) will have its World Premiere at the 7th Rome International Film Festival, which will be held from 9 November 2012 – 17 November 2012. Tasher Desh will also be competing in the Cinema XXI section of the Festival this year.

The film has been directed by Q (Kaushik Mukherjee). Q came into international prominence with ‘Gandu,’ a film that was premiered at Berlin and won Best New Director award at the Seattle International Film Festival. Commenting on the film and selection Q, said:

“The most important thing about such an international film festival is the line-up of films against which mine will compete. 30 films from across the world have been chosen and it is an honor to compete against directors like Elisabetta Sgarbi and Thomas Heise.”

The only Indian film to be selected to RIFF, Tasher Desh is a “trippy adaptation” of Rabindranath Tagore’s dance drama with the same name. The film is co-produced by Anurag Kashyap stars Anubrata Basu, Rituparna Sen and Soumyak Kanti De Biswas. The film also features 10 of the most popular Rabindra Sangeet pieces, albeit rendered by popular international acts such as Asia Dub Foundation (ADF), Sushella Raman, and more.

While the festival would mark the first public screening of Tasher Desh, the movie is slated for a 2013 first quarter release in India. Be sure to catch it!
