Prita Chhabra Wins 'Best World Music' at 2012 Toronto Independent Music Awards

We’ve always thought that recording artist, Prita Chhabra, is quite the talent.  Turns out, all the Canadians agree with us!  This past Saturday, October 6th, Prita won big at the 2012 Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMA), taking home  an award in the ‘Best World Music‘ category for her “Roots” and “Dance” singles.

Prita was previously nominated ‘Best Female Act’ at the 2010 Toronto Independent Music Awards for singles from her debut CD “Spread The Word“.  However, this is Prita’s first win at the TIMA’s.

The Toronto Independent Music Awards launched in 2004, with nominees and winners being chosen by a Grand Jury that includes Canadian superstars Bif Naked and Jully Black, as well as industry heavyweights Eric Alper and Vikas Kohli among others. Proceeds from the TIMA’s are going towards MusiCounts, a charity dedicated to keeping music education in Canada’s public schools.

Congrats Prita from the Urban Asian team!  Stay tuned for more Prita news only on Urban Asian!
