An Evening of Jazz at ZORBA

Come help raise funds for the lives of 6 children desperately in need of immediate medical help! The Genesis Foundation presents AN EVENING OF JAZZ with Sonam Kalra & The Treble Makers and Arati Rao & The Kaya Quintet at ZORBA, Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, near Sultanpur Metro Station.

Yes! You heard right. The proceeds of this concert will all go towards just 6 children. Genesis Foundation provides medical/financial support for those children who are from orphan homes or whose family income is less than 5K rupees per month. Their main focus is to especially help children with cancer, organ failure, cardiac disorders, thalassemia and extreme deformities. Check out Genesis Foundation for more information!

As for the music – if you’ve heard of Shubha Mughal and Sarathi Chatterjee then you know what you’re in for at this wonderful event. Sonam Kalra is a singer who has been trained by these legendary women. Her music is a mix of Western, as well as, Traditional Indian. Some of her featured music includes Fever, My Way, Besame Mucho, Mack the Knife and Orange Coloured Sky; one can say she is inspired by Danny Boy and Amazing Grace.

 

Her “Treble Maker” team includes Alex Fernandes on piano, Brennon Denfer on upright bass, Anthony Quadros on saxophone and Joshua on drums. Along with this talented group, you would be enjoying The Kaya Quintet. This a Jazz, Funk, Soul, and Blues group lead by Arati Rao, a musician who’s entire family is brought up on music. She started her band in 2002 with Adrian D’Souza on the Drums, Aman Mahajan on the Piano, Matt Littlewood on the Saxophone and Mishko M’ba on the Bass. Arati has worked with famous singers such as, Louis Banks, Leslie Lewis, Shiv Mathur, Ehsaan Noorani, Zubin Balaporia, Vanraj Bhatia and Jo Alvares.
