Ample Play Records introduces talented finds!

Ample Play Records’ Tjinder Singh and Ben Ayres have been introducing us to remarkable new talents.  Read a feature on Ample Play‘s blog to find some amazing new talents and set yourself up with Portland’s Jack Lewis, Swedish born Izzy Lindqwister, and Nashville’s The Sufis!

Nashville’s The Sufis album has been called ‘incredibly adventurous & memorable’ by “Shinding! Magazine & Rough Trade” and has been named Album of the Month!  The album has been causing quite the stir in not only the United States and Europe but also Australia and Brazil as well!

Another amazing Ample Play Records find is Jack Lewis! Jack Lewis was born on the Lower East Side of NYC, making Portland, Oregon his home since 2006. He is bass player, singer and sometime songwriter for his brother in the Jeffrey Lewis Band (Rough Trade Records).

He has collaborated with Herman Dune and was also part of the supergroup The Bundles on K Records, which included his brother Jeff, Kimya Dawson and Karl Blau. His new album depicts Portland life – with a spring in your step and your pockets in your hands.

Guest vocalist on the Urban Turban, Swedish born Izzy Lindqwister (they call her the destroyer) released her debut single for just 1 English pound – two great summer tracks, “One Million Keys” and “Fool to Fool.” Now based in Paris, Izzy is known for her strong soul power voice and her strong image. Tjinder saw her in his local record shop and has been working with her ever since.

She started singing in church choirs from a young age, and as a teenager she discovered blues, soul & rock’n’roll through Stevie Klasson, Johnny Thunders’ guitarist, of whom she says,

“He would sometimes invite me to guest at one of his shows in small Stockholm jazz venues. Being too young to get into those sort of places I had to wait in the car and sneak in via the sidedoor just to sing a song or two.”

Once in Paris, she’s played with various bands and lately has started her own solo project while collaborating with acts such as Cornershop, Mustang, SSG and Towerbrown.

Keep it locked on Urban Asian for more Ample Play Records updates!
