We’ve been following Prita Chhabra’s career quite closely at UrbanAsian. As you know, she is an American recording artist, who is quite the talent. Today, Prita Chhabra, has released her new single and music video with a little help from the other side of the pond. She has joined forces with British-Asian R&B superstar, Navin Kundra, to create an amazing new song called, ‘Dance’. It is the first such South Asian R&B collaboration to bring together male and female R&B counterparts from the US and UK.
Produced by JUNO-nominated Othentic Productions in Montreal, ‘Dance’ boasts an exciting fusion of Navin’s poetic Hindi verses alongside Prita’s melodious English lyrics. The perfect name for the perfect collaboration between two amazing singers. In fact, Navin has five Number 1 hits on the UK Asian Charts under his belt, while Prita’s voice has filled stadiums across North America as the first South Asian recording artist to sing the national anthem for the NBA, MLB and most recently, NHL leagues. With such success in their past, we can only assume that their futures will remain just as bright.
The powerful track is supported by a great video, created by highly acclaimed director Jazz Virk, and offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at Navin and Prita on tour together. Fans of the stars can watch them rehearsing for their first collaborative live performance in real time as well as get a preview of the magic that produced “Dance“.
The ‘Dance’ video’s director Jazz Virk, who’s past video collaborations have included a host of high profile artists including Nelly Furtado and Basement Jaxx. Virk was also behind the biggest budget South Asian music video to date – ‘Rambo’ by multi-platinum Vancouver bhangra artist Jazzy B.
In addition to performances in Toronto, Prita and Navin recently headlined the 9th annual India Fest in West Palm Beach (Florida), and are currently planning several other performances across North America.
Prita, who hails from Florida is making waves across the world – she was recently crowned ‘Hottie of the Month’ in MAXIM India and was chosen for ANOKHI Magazine’s 2012 ‘Sexy & Successful’ List! Prita has also just wrapped up a successful fundraising initiative with the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s ‘Dare Campaign’ where she dressed up as a cartoon character at Toronto’s Yonge & Dundas Square, in a flashback to her first job working at Orlando’s Disney World.
Prita will also be seen on billboards at Sears locations across Ontario this Summer, appearing as the face of Canada’s ‘Brown Man Clothing’ line for their latest t-shirt ad campaign. And it doesn’t end there… the busy and stunning artist will also be appearing at May 30’s ‘From New York To Bombay’ charitable event alongside supermodel Ashika Pratt in New York, and performing at Canada Day ‘Tigerfest’ Celebrations in Brampton (Ontario, Canada) on July 1, presented by wrestling superstar philanthropists Tiger Jeet Singh and Tiger Ali Singh.
