The Bhangra scene get’s bigger and bigger everywhere you turn! This time it’s crossed borders over to the UK to Malaysia, with duo brothers GoldKartz M-Ji and Surj!
Did you think Bhangra was only in the UK, India, Canada and US , wrong this time it’s taken far beyond it’s reached and cross places we would never imagined!
Malaysia’s Bhangra Ambassadors, Goldkartz, are set to make waves on UK shores. Brothers M-ji (Manjit Singh) and Surj (Sukhjit Gill) are the first bhangra act to come out of Malaysia and they are here with their brand new bhangra track ‘Punjabi Jeha’.
Goldkartz are no strangers to the music industry, having produced the first Malaysian bhangra album, 24 Karaatz, they were honoured by receiving the Malaysian Book of Records which was awarded to them by the Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage of Malaysia. More recently this year they picked up three awards at the 2012 VIMAs (Vancouver Island Music Awards), showing that they are a force to be reckoned with.
Their debut international album 24 Karaatz included collaborations with Rishi Rich and Mumzy on the track ‘Ha Karde’, which also released in the UK. This track was a refreshingly upbeat mix of urban and bhangra sounds with a great mix of tempos. They have also collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including Tigerstyle, PBN (Punjabi by Nature), the Bollywood maestro Shankar Mahadevan and a variety of Malaysian artists.
The brand new single ‘Punjabi Jeha’ is a step towards the more traditional sound of bhangra music. The combination of fast-paced music teamed with the strong vocals of Goldkartz provides the perfect formula for an energetic and exciting bhangra track. The video has a traditional feel with appearances from traditional bhangra dancers in Punjabi outfits, and their high levels of energy provide another dimension which will cause this track to be a huge hit.
