On February 24, 2012 Twentieth Century Fox will be releasing the Bollywood film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The Film stars Dev Patel, who was in the Multi-Oscar and BAFTA winning film, Slumdog Millionaire; and the new Bollywood actress and top model, Tena Desae. It is a feel good comedy with British and Indian stars including, Lillete Dubey (Monsoon Wedding, Housefull, Kal Ho Naa Ho) who plays the mother of Dev Patel’s character Sonny. The star cast is impressive – Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson, Penelope Wilton, Celia Imrie and Ronald Pickup.
The movie is about a group of English pensioners who abandon their homeland enticed by advertisements of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in Jaipur, India. On arrival, they discover that the hotel falls short of the romantic idyll promised in the brochure, but they slowly are won over by the young entrepreneurial manager Sonny, and find that life can begin again when you let go of the past. Tena Desae, who plays the role of Sunaina, had made her Bollywood debut in the 2011 ‘Yeh Faasley’. John Madden directs the film from a script by Ol Parker based on Pride and Prejudice screenwriter Deborah Moggach’s novel These Foolish Things.
