Bollywood What's Happenin'

Madhuri Dixit-Nene set to dazzle at Madame Tussauds

Award winning actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene is the latest Bollywood movie star to join the A-list line up at London’s famous Madame Tussauds.

Joining the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri will become the sixth member of the fraternity to be placed in the Bollywood area. Come March, fans will be able to see her heart-stopping smile from up close.

Speaking about the inclusion, the actress said:

“I am really thrilled I am going to be included at Madame Tussauds. It’s a real mark of achievement to be recognised for ones art and work. It’s also wonderful to be following in the footsteps of other Bollywood stars and some of my personal heroes!”

With a career spanning over 25 years  and recognized for being a global dancing sensation by billions of Indians worldwide, it comes as no surprise that Madhuri is next on the list for the already impressive line up at the attraction. Madame Tussauds has reported that they were constantly inundated with requests to feature the actress and expect a huge interest in the figure when she takes up residence.

The figure will cost £150,000 to create and to ensure total authenticity, Madhuri will be closely involved in the creation process, collaborating with the Madame Tussauds team to agree on the pose.  She has even donated a Manish Malhotra sari for the figure to wear.

Madhuri has already begun to give a sitting to sculptors in Mumbai.

Urban Asian would love to know, which other Bollywood superstar would you like to see featured alongside Madhuri and the other Bollywood stars?
