John Abraham heading to Hollywood?

These days, collaborations between Bollywood and Hollywood stars is not uncommon.  We’ve seen actors like Ali Larter (“Marigold” with Salman Khan) and Barbara Mori (“Kites” with Hrithik Roshan) try their hand at Bollywood.  However, we’ve also seen stars like Aishwarya Rai (in “Pink Panther 2” opposite Steve Martin) and Amitabh Bachchan (in “Teen Patti” and soon to be released “Great Gatsby”) pair opposite Hollywood actors.  The latest Bollywood hero to find his reach expanding beyond India is heartthrob John Abraham.

John who debuted in the movie “Jism” back in 2003, has captured the attention of a Hollywood director with his latest movie, “Force.”   Apparently, JJ Perry (Sylvester Stallone and Gerard Butler’s action trainer), has offered John a movie role in his next film.  The news was confirmed by John who shared how this offer came about, “Perry happened to see the trailers of my film Force, and he called to say he had not seen any Indian actor who could physically look like this, and that he’d love to work with me. I am going to Los Angeles in December to fix up everything.”

When asked if he is excited about the Hollywood venture, John humbly said, “I am not one of those actors who’d rave about working in a Hollywood film. I am proud to be an Indian and to work here.  In the past, when Water entered the Academy, I did get a chance to do films there. But I want to be known as John Abraham from India, of India and made by the people of India. John Abraham may sound like a Hollywood name, but the guy is a true Indian at heart.”

John became an action icon with the movie “Dhoom” and earned the nickname “Action Abraham.”  However, though he is primarily known as an action star, John explored other genres (like comedy) too.  “After ‘Dhoom’ people expected me to do action, but there is a time and place for everything and I think I’m more mature as an actor now. Even bodily I’m far fit; I’ve understood my body better now.”

The rise to action king did not come easy as John explains, “(While shooting for Force), I’ve broken both my shins, both my elbows, bruised my back and developed blood clots in my right arm and chest. I also have a crack in my skull. So practically I have damaged every bone in the body.”

We hope that John shoots to fame in Hollywood too!  I think it’s time we shared this gorgeous guy with the rest of the world!   Do you all think he’ll be successful?
