Sweet Sugandh Sisters Fundraiser for Cancer

If you’ve been reading Urban Asian for a while, you’re probably pretty familiar with music artists Seema Sugandh and her younger sister, Tina Sugandh (aka Tabla Girl). If you aren’t too familiar with Seema and Tina, don’t worry! Let’s just say that if Venus and Serena Williams are the powerhouses of tennis, then Seema and Tina are their equivalent in music. These two girls are a rare combination of talent supplemented by humility.

Seema and Tina grew up in the entertainment business – father, Kanaiya Sugandh, is a renowned comic, actor, and singer, and their late-mother, Geeta Sugandh was a talented singer in her own right. Last year, however, Mrs. Sugandh lost her battle with breast cancer and passed away December 3rd. While it is possible that many would want to deal with their loss privately, Seema and Tina chose to use their loss as a means to spread the word on this terrible disease in the hopes that a cure can be found. So, last year, the sisters released the “Sugandh Family CD” (see below for purchase info) to raise money for cancer research. In addition, they teamed with “The Pink Runway” to help raise money for cancer via their annual runway event.

So, if you’re in the CA area, get excited, because it’s already that time of year for this wonderful event to take place! All you need to do is purchase a ticket (starting at $20) and then join the festivities for laughs, delicious food, and a great time! After all, who can say no to doing good while supporting old & new friends? Get out your calendars, find something pink, and get pumped for the Loma Linda Plastic Surgery’s Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show! This year, the event will be held at the Riverside Convention Center (3443 Orange Street / Riverside, CA / 92501) on Sept 25th! Cheer on all the breast cancer survivors and watch them strut their stuff down the catwalk! If the fashion show isn’t enough to draw you in, you’ll be happy to know that Tina will be performing live too!
