Most of you are probably most familiar with Preeya Kalidas from either Eastenders (where she played Amira Masood) or from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Bombay Dreams (where she snagged the lead role of Priya). However, Preeya packs a double punch as she’s not only an actress, but a sensational singer as well.
On her new single – “It’s a Problem” – Preeya teams up with rapper Scorcher, who laces the track with a great intro and verse. The track is a sure fire club banger produced by grime stalwart Dexplicit. The song has all the right ingredients to become a dance floor hit – the production is energetic, beat is bass heavy, and the singing is just right! ‘It’s A Problem’ has already been played by some of the most recognized urban DJ’s in the UK such as Trevor Nelson, DJ Target, Ace & Vis and Mistajam.
Currently, Preeya is working with some of the hottest producers/artists in the UK urban scene (including Tru Tiger, Wretch 32, Wizzy Wow, Lioness and Angel). Her new album is slated for an early 2012 release. In the mean time, you can catch Preeya on “Eastenders,” where she is set to return as ‘Amira Masood’ next month.
