Despite the attendance, by the who’s who of Bollywood from actors, directors, singers, to music directors, many of us couldn’t help but ask, why so many of the top names in Bollywood were missing from the IIFA event!
Our very own Brand Ambassador of Canada, Akshay Kumar, was nowhere in sight or mention during the event. Celebs like: Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Poudoukone, Sonam Kapoor, Hritik Roshan, and Shahid Kapoor to name a few of those absent from the event this year.
After a spectacular star studded event, IIFA weekend has finally come to an end. Over 16 000 people attended the IIFA ceremony and over 20 000 spectators came to get a glimpse of their favourite stars on the green carpet in Toronto. The crowds went wild when Shahrukh Khan made his entrance, with fans waving their hands, posters and even throwing kisses at him while leaving red lipstick marks on the cheeks of king khan.
The Deol’s came in a Limo waving at the crowd in style, while Heema Malni accompanied by daughter Esha, walked down the green carpet in traditional Indian sari’s.
Karan Johar, Vivek Oberoi, and Arshad Warsi on the other hand rolled down their windows to chat with their fans while arriving to the green carpet. Although Bipasha and Amisha both ended up wearing the same dress in different colors, they both looked stunning.
Although some of them had busy work schedules, it seemed like others were intimidated by King Khan’s presences and huge fan following in Toronto. In spite of the Bollywood rivalries, some of the missing stars actually had a good chance at bagging the awards this year. Bollywood politics does exist after all. Better luck next year!
