This summer, the sun will shine down on the glittering red carpet of the Hindi Film Industry as the Greater Toronto Area will be buzzing with excitement for the arrival of Bollywood’s biggest stars. Toronto, for years has been a cultural hub for the South Asian community, but now, the arrival of the IIFA Awards will stamp our city as an official Bollywood city. A city where the world’s largest film industry has the most passionate fans.
In June, Toronto will play host to parties, events, fashion shows, premieres, red carpet arrivals and Bollywood films, also known as mainstream Hindi films. Each year, IIFA has created a presence and left an impact in various countries and cities across the world, taking the Indian culture and Bollywood films with them; however, this year, IIFA will make its North American debut in Toronto and showcase Indian culture and its films in a new way. The IIFA Awards, IIFA Rocks Fashion Show, a star studded film premiere and a special Raj Kapoor retrospective in association with the Toronto International Film Festival are just a few highlights of what’s to come throughout the 3 day festival. Yet, what is most important are the fans, us Mangoes and Coconuts that have made Bollywood films what they are today and made unknown stars into household names overnight.
This June, will not only be a celebration of Indian culture and films, but a celebration of our years of passion and dedication to Bollywood cinema.
