Karisma Kapoor to return to the big screen?

According to the Times of India, Bollywood’s original blue eyed girl, Karisma Kapoor, is set to make a come back to the big screen.  They state that she has been offered three films that she is thinking of signing.  I’m a huge Karisma fan so, of course, had to share this news with all of you readers and fellow fans. However, like you, I’m hoping that this doesn’t remain a rumor and that she actually signs a film officially.  Whatever movie she signs, I hope that she finds better success than Madhuri Dixit did with “Aaja Nachle.”

Personally, I do not understand why actresses’ longevity in Bollywood films is so limited.  In Hollywood, most actresses find roles at any age, but in Bollywood, getting married shuts this door to you (unless you want to play SRK or Big B’s mom – and yes I mean that a bit sarcast).  While Bollywood is so keen to replicate Hollywood, this is one area that they have failed to take notes on.  There are so many actresses in Bollywood who could still produce excellent cinema if producers/directors were smart enough to utilize them (ie Madhuri Dixit, Sonali Bendre, Juhi Chawla, Raveena Tandon, Rekha, Asha Parekh, Vyjayantimala, etc.)  Most of these older actresses are immediately relegated to side roles or the role of the mother of an actor whom they previously were romantic leads with.

So, Karisma, if you do make a come back, let’s hope directors use your talents wisely!
