Prita Chhabra Reveals her Roots!

Montreal born recording artist, Prita Chhabra, has released the cover of her highly anticipated single “Roots”, available on iTunes May 1st timed with the start of South Asian Heritage Month in Canada.

While seeming to be a depiction of Prita’s Canadian and South Asian fashion influences at first glance, Prita’s “Roots” cover is more so an artistic statement for the singer/songwriter, who often feels torn between her Canadian and South Asian audiences. Reflected in the lyrics of her “Roots” single, Prita describes both the joys and struggles of being raised in Canada while having cultural roots in another country (in Prita’s case, India).

Conceptualized by Prita and brought to life by Canada’s acclaimed GLOW Academy School of Professional Artistic Beauty, Prita drew inspiration for her “Roots” CD cover paying tribute to one of her favorite artistic images from the past decade – “Face Forward”, a best-selling book published 11 years ago by late celebrity makeup artist Kevin Aucoin.

Several editions of the accompanying “Roots” music video will also be released on Prita’s YouTube channel beginning on May 1st and continuing throughout the month, with an announcement of the exclusive Canadian premiere of the video’s first edition set for later this week. The world premiere of Prita’s “Roots” video took place February 20th at the 2nd annual Tampa India International Film Festival.

Prita’s recent tour dates have included performing for over 10,000 people at the 8th annual West Palm Beach Indiafest ; being featured at the 10th annual Florida Music Festival in Orlando ; and appearing as the keynote speaker at E.C. Drury high school in Milton (Ontario) for a multicultural awareness fundraiser.
