Lahiri claims credit for "On The Floor" by J-Lo

Music director, Bappi Lahiri has openly claimed credit for Jennifer Lopez’s new hit single “On The Floor,” saying that its tune is much like that of the song “Sochana Kya” from the 1990 Hindi blockbuster film “Ghayal”.

“Jennifer Lopez’s new song On the Floor that has a Lambada sampling and has become a huge hit is identical to my song Sochana Kya Jo Bhi Dekha Jayega. The opening tune is the same,” he claims, “I brought Lambada to India 19 years ago and she has done it now. The credit goes to me.”

However, does Lahiri really have the right to claim the song’s melody to be his own? According to the facts, Lambada, a Brazilian song, came out long before “Ghayal” released! Perhaps the Brazilian song is the true inspiration behind both Lahiri and J-Lo’s songs.

So what do you think? Is Lahiri justified in his claim that the music behind “On the Floor” belongs to him? Check out these following videos before you make your decision and let UrbanAsian know what you think!
