Meet Super-mom! aka Kalista Zackhariyas

Kalista Zackhariyas is an actor, writer, aspiring film maker, dancer, model, martial artist and of course a loving mother. With so much on her plate it’s hard for anyone in her position to keep up, but super-mom Zackhariyas truly excels, with her latest accomplishment being the lead actress in the film “Snow” which premieres March 3rd, 2011 at the San Jose 2011 Cinequest Film Festival!

The Cinequest film festival is one of the only surviving film festivals supporting the discovery of new and emerging film artists. Cinequest presents a dynamic 13-day event of 200 international films, 600+ film aftists and professionals representing 44 countries! Cenquest also boasts over 80,000 attendees each year! With so much talent available it is no small feat that Rohan Fernando’s “Snow” starring Kalista Zackhariyas was chosen to be a part of this festival.

Katherine Geiger of Cinequest said “Rohan Fernando crafts a story rich with symbolism and depth–captivating at every turn. Snow captures the tragedy that can befall the displaced but also hints at the renewal that can be born of it.”

The movie “Snow follows the life of Parvathi, played by Zackhariyas, a Tsunami survivor.

“Kalista brought incredible dedication to her lead role as Parvati,”says Rohan Fernando, the director of “Snow.” “Her performance is both subtly nuanced and emotionally powerful – bringing an empathy to the character that is absolutely essential for this film.”

Over a span of 10 years Zackhariyas has appeared in two feature films, numerous short films and commercials, graced magazine covers, hosted talk shows and of course with such talent and drive she’s been interviewed by various media outlets  not only in Canada but internationally as well. Zackhariayas manages it all while running a full-time business, continuing her acting education and taking care of a family. Zackhariayas is also working to launch a foundation which supports youth programs and women’s shelters.
