Indian TV What's Happenin'

Saving Zee TV

Zee TV has been losing its charm for some time now but now they have came back with a fresh new start. Three new shows have come out on Zee TV, Sanjog Se Bani Sangini, Dil Se Diya Vachan, and Ram Milaye Jodi. Three different shows with three different concepts; each bringing a fresh new flavor to Zee TV.

Sanjog Se Bani Sangini is a story about Rudra played by heart-throb Iqbal Khan and Gauri played by the sweet Binny Sharma from Dance India Dance. Iqbal Khan was last seen on the very popular show Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai and now after two long years is back on television. Binny Sharma was the graceful dancer who was seen on Dance India Dance season 2. Sangini has been a much talked about show for while now since it is based on the story of “Devdas.” The storyline involves Gauri and Rudra’s pain which stems from their families. Rudra and Pihu, played by Additi Gupta, are neighbors and childhood best friends living the rich life. Rudra is madly in love with Pihu, they were even planning to get married! But due to some family issues, misunderstandings and stubborn fights they part ways when Pihu marries another man. Gauri on the other hand has always worked hard to take care of her family and never had time for her own happiness.

Despite their different worlds, Rudra and Gauri are brought together by destiny in a pure bond of friendship. Now that Gauri’s mother has arranged her marriage, Rudra is first in line to help out in his best friend’s wedding.  Rudra can’t seem to get away from Pihu’s memories, and Pihu is a bit of a spoiled brat at her sasural, doesn’t seem like these two will be happy apart but will Rudra’s friendship with Gauri turn into love? Can all three of them move on from their past towards happiness? Only time will tell.

Dil Se Diya Vachan is the most recent show aired on Zee TV. The show is not a typical love story; it revolves around the relationship between a daughter-in-law and mother-in-law, but it definitely is not a typical endless saas-bahu feud serial. In Dil Se Diya Vachan, Dr. Kalyani stands by her daughter-in-law, Nandini, in every situation. Dr. Kalyani is played by the talented Neena Gupta, Nandini is played by Vandana Joshi from Dance India Dance fame and Prem, Dr. Nandini’s son, is  played by the adorable Gaurav Khanna. The show also includes is a big star cast with actors like Ayub Khan, Abigail Jain, Ashlesha Sawant, and many more. Dr. Kalyani finds her son, Prem, the perfect girl that he falls in love with as well. It seems that people aren’t happy with Dr. Kalyani’s choice however, maybe it is because Nandini is an orphan? Or is there something else terribly wrong from Nandini’s past? Keep watching Dil Se Diya Vachan to find out!

Ram Milaye Jodi is a story about the mix of cultures in a love marriage. The story is about a Sikh Punjabi girl named Mona played by Priyal Gor, and Anukalp, a Hindu Gujrati boy, played by Nishant Malkani. If you’re a Star One fan, you may remember Nishant Malkani as Adiraj on Miley Jab Hum Tum. Mona is bubbly, outgoing girl who’s always trying to be helpful and Anukalp is a shy, smart, and considerate young man. Both come from different backgrounds and upbringings but they meet due to some confusion when Mona’s family and Anukalp end up renting the same home. Mona’s family is in the city to celebrate the wedding of her older cousin, and of course there are tons of people, lots of music, endless amounts of food and no money left in the bank once a large Punjabi wedding is taking place. Anukalp is the original renter of the home but he agrees to let Mona’s family stay because his family will be arriving a few weeks later. Anukalp comes from a strict-Hindu-vegetarian family, so once his family arrives things get uncomfortable in the house. We are left to see how both of the families adjust with each other. Will the families be able to put aside their differences and get along? It seems like Anukalp is developing a little crush on Mona but will Mona and  Anukalp’s friendship turn into a relationship?
