Commonwealth Games – going down?

As the opening night appears in New Delhi with a “dabaang” kickoff – Commonwealth games were a huge success, right until the first day into the games. Rows of empty seats on the first day left critics asking whether it was worth all the fuss. Did India make a mistake in having the Commonwealth games? Was there not enough sports that interested people to buy tickets?

Only a handful of spectators turned out for netball, hockey and badminton matches this morning, while crowds at the swimming heats were threadbare. India has spent £3.8billion on the Games despite millions still living in poverty.
