Steve Harvey was nowhere near the Oscars this year, and yet the Oops moment happened during the 89th Academy Awards ceremony. Apparently, Warren Beatty was handed the wrong card which had the name of the winner of a completely different category (it was the best actress card, with Emma Stone — ‘La La Land’ written on it).
It was a weird moment that got all the right kind of reactions. After ‘Moonlight’ director Barry Jenkins concluded his speech, Jimmy Kimmel jokingly accepted responsibility for this whole scenario.
“I knew I would screw this up, I really did.”

Price Waterhouse Coopers said,
“We sincerely apologize to ‘Moonlight’, ‘La La Land’, Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, and Oscar viewers for the error that was made during the award announcement for Best Picture. The presenters had mistakenly been given the wrong category envelope and when discovered, was immediately corrected. We are currently investigating how this could have happened, and deeply regret that this occurred. We appreciate the grace with which the nominees, the Academy, ABC, and Jimmy Kimmel handled the situation.”
