She says,

“What I have learnt since childhood is that Lord Krishna is an incarnation of Vishnu who is the supreme God. I think Lord Krishna is very important because he gave us one of the major teachings of life in the Bhagvad Gita, that of doing your Karma without bothering about the fruits. I firmly believe in this philosophy and try to practice it in my life. Actually sometime back I had gone to the Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple. For a wedding and there someone gave us a copy of the Gita. I read it out of curiosity. I have studied Sanskrit in school and so I read the Sanskrit shlokas with the English translations. I actually found it to be a very practical guide for life and I think everyone should read it at least once. I am not specifically a devotee of Lord Krishna, but I believe in all Gods as I feel God is one. But I have been training in Kathak and there we have to enact a lot of stories which are about Lord Krishna and Radha and all their beautiful stories. So that way I feel quite connected to him as I think his stories are full of music and dance and the arts. I will celebrate the festival in a simple manner by going to the temple and paying my respects. I think Lord Krishna stands for simplicity and beauty and love so I will try to imbibe those into my life! My fondest childhood memories of Janmashtami is that my grandmother had a little statue of baby Lord Krishna which she used to really treasure. She would specially make clothes for it all through the year and dress it up, and during Janmashtami, at 12 in the night when Lord Krishna is supposed to be born, we would dress it in new clothes and keep it on a jhula and wish him happy birthday and celebrate! It was really wonderful and that statue of Lord Krishna is still with us!”
