Starring Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘Junooniyat’ revolves around the love story of an army man and how the girl’s family refuses to let her marry him because of his professional background. And the director reveals that the inspiration for the unique story came from one of his friend’s love life as well as from his own family.
The filmmaker shares,
“I have a very close friend who was in the army and had to wait for almost a decade to marry the girl he loved since her family was strictly against her marrying an army-man. Even when my sister was supposed to get married to a defense guy, many from my family were against it, even though he was an engineer in Navy and always had non-combat postings.”
The director points out that it is a common scenario in India wherein many families are often reluctant to marry their daughters to army men especially if posted in combat-zones.
