"Dev has redefined me as an actor!" – Neel Motwani

To create a very successful empire it takes three things, one the foundation it is built on, two the frame the structure stands on and the third and probably the most crucial ingredient – the hinges and plaster which glue everything together. The very talented Neel Motwani is one such crucial ingredient several A-lister shows. After delivering note worthy performances in Beintehaa, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Kumkum Bhagya, he is back to entertain as Dev of Bahu Hamari Rajni_Kant.

First introduced as Shaan’s (Karan V Grover) friend, Dev’s character has taken on a whole new dimension after the rib tickling track of Dev and Shogata’s (Neha Kaul) unexpected wedding. Even the audiences love witnessing the cute nok jhoks between Dev and Shogata as well as the camaraderie between Shaan, Rajni and Dev. What’s most interesting about Dev that despite being an overly frustrated, at the wrong place at the wrong time kind of guy, Dev is Shaan’s voice of reason. Shaan may be the genius scientist but without Dev by his side, Shaan becomes the socially awkward child who sits on the corner seat of class room during recess.

We asked Neel what it takes to pull off such a wild and energy consuming character such as Dev,

“I have played such high energy characters in the past but Dev has truly redefined me. I thank Nitin sir, the director of the show, for letting me explore my nitch as Dev. He truly let me open up and gave me the liberty to portrayal Dev with the energy that I do.”

How does Dev compare to your previous characters?

“ Dev is very much unlike my previous characters, however the energy required to play Dev is much similar to that of Bilal (Beintehaa) and Neel (Kumkum Bhagya). While Pathak (Yeh Hai Mohabbatein) was more or less a stagnant character, Bilal and Neel were more of emotionally heavy characters which required a lot of expression.”

In the coming episodes we can expect more of Dev and Shogata’s hysterical antics as love possibly blossoms between the two.
