It’s always nice to see mainstream singers adding a bit of their culture to their albums. Zayn Malik did just that with his upcoming album, Mind of Mine. The album will feature a 104-second long love song in Urdu titled Flower.
The song will be in the middle of the album as an intermission. Zayn, a British-Pakistani had previously revealed that he speaks Urdu, which is his father’s native language. Including an Urdu song pays homage to Zayn’s heritage and is a reminder to his that he hasn’t forgotten his roots despite becoming popular in English pop music.
This definitely isn’t the first time and most likely will not be the last time Zayn acknowledges his Pakistani background. When the singer won the award for outstanding achievement in music at the Asian Awards last year, he thanked his parents for making him Asian and allowing him to have some effect on the Asian community.
Are you guys excited for Zayn’s Flower?
