Fun DIY projects to do this Holiday!

I am a Pinterest junkie and have been into DIY since I was a kid. I was that weird kid who used to spend Saturday mornings watching HGTV instead of cartoons… sometimes. And then when I discovered Tumblr and Pinterest, the world changed for me!

I think each month I like to try out a few, Do It Yourself type projects! And with the holiday creeping up very soon, we’re getting ready to deck up our houses with glitz and glam. Also let me point out, I love any DIY project that is quick, easy and cheap!!

Here’s one of my favorites and mad easy. Go to the grocery store, buy regular sized pretzels, heresy kisses and red and green M&M’s (typically sold only around holiday time). Grab a baking pan, and throw on some wax paper. Place as many pretzels as you can on the pan and place a kiss on-top and bake on 250 degrees for about 5-8 min (don’t exceed). Take them out, and quickly place or push red and green M&M’s on-top of kisses. Let them sit to cool down for a bit. And eat away! Or if you are making these for a party, place them in the fridge to cool down faster but do not let them get too cold.

This is a great quick bite dessert and the best part is it satisfies your sweet-salty cravings!

Here’s another fun one I just recently tried out this past weekend.

Apple Cider Spiced Rum Cinnamon Jello-Shots!

Literally a cup of fall AND you can even make this non-alcoholic and it’ll still taste good.

Quick recipe: For up to 60 Jello-shots, grab a pot and place it on the stove with 2 cups of water. Pour 2 pockets of plain gelatin in the put and stir thoroughly, try to get lumps out. Add 3-4 cups of cold apple cider (you can make fresh, but I just bought a gallon from the store) and stir thoroughly. Now add 1 cup of cold water and keep stirring. Let the mixture boil for about a minute. Next pour in two cups of Captain Morgan spiced rum, stir thoroughly. Lastly, add a pinch of cinnamon and pour into shot glasses. To make the shots stronger, leave some space in shot glasses and pour a bit more rum. Place jello-shots overnight to set and drink up!

With Thanksgiving just about a week away, I personally like to bring the reason of Thanksgiving alive with those I celebrate with. This holiday is about giving back and simply just being thankful for all the food we have, the people we have and be alive.

I came across this very simple DIY craft for the Thanksgiving dinner table and definitely plan on adding this to our table setting next week.

Simple get a brown paper bag, construction paper or even just regular computer paper. Hand write or type up ‘I am thankful for’ and add some space for each person to write. Place a pen or marker with their spoons, fork and knife and let them write away while they devour the delicious meal. Food for thought, literally.
