#mancrushmonday: Top 10 male playback singers of Bollywood!

The past few years of the Bollywood music industry have been filled with the rise and fall of many playback singers, some of whom were accepted with open arms and others that didn’t quite make it into people’s hearts. In honor of #mancrushmonday, we present to you our list of top 10 male playback singers of Bollywood today!

Divya Kumar is one singer who has recently entered the music industry with quite a bang! He has a very interesting tonal quality that beautifully blends Suresh Wadkar’s melodiousness and Kailash Kher’s energy. From “Aafaton Ke Parindey” in Ishaqzaade to “Raita Phail Gaya” in Shaandaar, Divya Kumar is consistently proving that he is here to stay!

Next up is Benny Dayal, who has been around in the Hindi film music scene for quite some time. His versatility is amazing, and he is able to pull off songs in any genre, from melodious songs like “Kaise Mujhe” (Ghajini) to club numbers like “Lat Lag Gayi” (Race 2).

Mika Singh has gained popularity as an item number king of sorts with his popular fist-pumping party tracks. Recently, he seems to be branching out into more melodious genres, particularly in “Heer Toh Badi Sad Hai” from the film Tamasha.

Vishal Dadlani, of the Vishal-Shekhar music composer duo, has recently made his mark as a mainstream playback singer recording his vocals for other music directors. His rustic and unique voice make him a desirable candidate for any song. He even got the opportunity to lend his vocals for Salman Khan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s “Selfie Le Le Re”!

Sonu Nigam is possibly one of the best and most versatile singers that Bollywood has ever seen. Needless to say, he has years of experience in the music industry, but his melodious voice and the emotionality with which he renders songs has not changed one bit. He has also diversified by singing in other languages, such as Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu. Rumor has it that he is an extremely fast learner and takes very little time to record any new song!

Sukhwinder Singh is yet another powerful, energetic singer who has only gone up in fame after Slumdog Millionaire’s “Jai Ho”. His dynamism and stage presence while performing during live shows is highly impressive, and he keeps audiences entertained for hours, asking for more. Our recent favorite of his is “Gallan Goodiyaan” from the film Dil Dhadakne Do.

In addition to Vishal Dadlani, Ankit Tiwari is one more music director-turned-singer. He has an extremely soulful voice that melts listeners’ hearts when they hear his vocals. One of his most popular songs by far (and our favorite) is “Galliyan” from Ek Villain.

Shaan is one male playback singer that will never go out of style in the Bollywood music industry. His kind nature comes out musically through his melodious renditions. He is typically given the more cute and romantic songs in an album. Our recent obsession is “Aaj Unse Milna Hai” from the upcoming film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

Ranbir Kapoor may be a rockstar of Bollywood films, but Mohit Chauhan is definitely the rockstar of the music industry. He has churned out numerous hit songs and worked with many music directors that have only expanded his popularity. Perhaps the letter “m” is lucky for Mohit because after “Masakali” (Delhi 6), his next hit track is definitely “Matargashti” from Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming Tamasha.

Last but certainly not the least, we have our very own, Arijit Singh. He is easily the most consistent male playback singer in Bollywood today. Any album would be incomplete without a song in his voice. While he started off with romantic numbers, gaining a reputation as the soulful singer of Bollywood, he has gone on to record more upbeat numbers like “Sooraj Dooba Hai” from Roy and “Diliwaali Girlfriend” from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
