Sukwinder Singh refuses to sing Meeruthiya Gangsters' song with the word 'ghanta'

Singer Sukwinder Singh was offered to sing Zeishan Quadri’s Meeruthiya Gangsters’ song, Babaji Ka Ghanta. He refused to sing the song as he felt the title of the song was improper. The song subsequently went to Badlapur’s Jee Karda singer, Divya Kumar.

When Zeishan was questioned about Sukwinder’s refusal, he said, “Yes, he (Sukhwinder) was not cool with the title. We were pursuing him for almost 10-15 days, but then everyday he demanded some change in the lyrics. I didn’t want to do that so I let him go.” He further added, “Sukhwinder was the first option, but when he turned it down, we approached Divya and he instantly agreed. In fact, he has recorded the song couple of days ago and it has turned out to be really good”.

Zeishan is the award winning writer of Gangs of Wasseypur. Meeruthiya Gangster marks Zeishan’s debut as a director. When asked if the film will be like other gangster films, Zeishan said, “The film is all about quirkiness. It’s a very entertaining film unlike other gangster films which are serious and dark. Anurag (Kashyap) saw the film in December and he loved it. In fact, he has edited the film and made it crisper.”

Meeruthiya Gangster is based on real life events and is written and directed by Zeishan. The film stars Aakash Dahiya, Vansh Bhardwaj, Jaideep Ahlawat, Chandra Choor Rai, Jatin Sarna, Shadab Kamal, Nusrat Bharucha, Soundarya Sharma, Ishita Sharma, Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Kumar, Brijendra Kala and Malkhan Singh. The film is scheduled to release on June 19th.
