India’s Daughter, Leslee Udwin’s documentary on the brutal gang-rape of Jyoti Singh in 2012, was aired tonight in the UK on BBC Four. Despite the ban in India, YouTube versions of the video received a massive response. The end result, audiences determined that like the 615 million women in India, Jyoti Singh is not India’s daughter. Defense lawyer A.P. Singh statement, “We have the best culture. In our culture there is no place for women.” created an uproar amongst viewers.

The statement is not only outright appalling but also one which will make you sick to your stomach.
