These days actors have to go through all manner of hardships for their art. And Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha are no exception. The intrepid duo bravely battled a bucket load of sand being thrown in their faces, all in the name of perfecting a song sequence scene from their new film ‘Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, which releases on 6th June 2014 through Reliance Entertainment.
The mishap occurred whilst the pair were filming in the arid Jaipur desert for a crucial song scene. The scene required strategic bursts of sand to be gently and intermittently showered over Akshay and Sonakshi to create an effect. However, it was at this time that some over zealous Tamilian crew members – who were not acquainted with the Hindi language – began to continuously throw sand at the stars, resulting in Akshay and Sonakshi getting an eyeful (literally!). Luckily for the Tamilian crew, the ever humble and gracious Akshay and Sonakshi saw the funny side and carried on shooting the scene.
Speaking about the incident, Vipul Shah, who co-produces the film, explained: ‘Sand got into Akki and Sonakshi’s eyes, hair and clothes. It was worse for Sonakshi, but she, Akshay and my director Murugadoss treated the situation like a comedy of errors and laughed off the whole thing. They were truly sporting. Otherwise, a situation like this could have brought the shooting to a halt.’
