Mohit Lalwani’s Tribute to Rajesh Khanna

It has only been a few days since superstar Rajesh Khanna died (July 18, 2012), and the film industry in Bollywood and beyond, is still feeling his loss.  Even in Pakistan, for example, Rajesh Khanna movie marathons are being held to celebrate the star’s body of work.  Overshadowing such news in the press is the dispute over Khanna’s Aashirwad estate (rumor has it Dimple Kapadia has been cut from the will altogether).  However, we’d like to bring you some more positive Khanna-themed news in the form of a tribute by singer, MOhit Lalwani, of Indian Idol 4 fame.

MOhit Lalwani had soon after released a tribute to the King of Romance, Rajesh Khanna, with a cover of “Gulabi Aankhen” from Khanna’s 1970 movie release  “The Train“.  Lalwani is able to instantly capture the heart of the listener and showcases amazing soulful vocals.

Following this tribute, MOhit recorded another cover of a Khanna song, this time “Diya Jalte Hai” from Namak Haram as a tribute to the screen legend and King of Romance.  When you hear the track, I’m sure you’ll agree that Lalwani can at least be dubbed the Prince of Romance.  He renders the soulful tune as though it were personalized just for you and injects the right amount of emotion in the song!

Lalwani is a Bollywood singer who rose to fame after being a finalist on Indian Idol 4.  Since then, he has toured the globe performing with his band and troupe.  This year, Lalwani will feature as a singer in two Bollywood films, releasing around December.  So, you can be sure to hear his lovely voice in some fresh new tracks later this year!  Till then, follow MOhit on his Facebook Fan Page and check out his official website.
