In the next few minutes, we find out that both of them are gay and have arrived in Delhi to meet their respective partners. A chance encounter brings them close and Mansi soon moves in with Veer.

Here, we get to see their different sides — she is the ‘bindaas’, cigarette-smoking, reckless person, while Veer is left tidying up behind her, all submissive and quiet.

After facing heartbreak, Veer decides to drive Mansi to McLeod Ganj to unite her with her lover Nikki. On the way, the two bond, spend time and realize they have a deep connection between them.

When Nikki too refuses to accept her relationship in front of her family, the ‘soul mates’ decide to settle in together. Too much drama already?

Well, there’s a lot more left. After a few months of staying as a couple, Mansi realizes she misses the love of her life, while Veer has already developed a soft corner for her and is insecure about losing his partner.

Talking about the performance, the actors are being such naturals with their characters on screen, some scene of the film will touch your heart. The easy chemistry between Anshuman Jha and Zareen Khan moves matters along. While Jha is typically competent, Zareen Khan provides all the surprises. Ebullient and more relaxed than she has ever been, Khan embraces Mansi’s quirks and possibilities with visible relief.

The screenplay, by director Harish Vyas and Susan Fernandes, sometimes plays out like an LGBTQ variation of Jab We Met. Mansi is exuberant and messy, Veer is reserved and neat and tidy. She is more comfortable with herself than he is, and unlike him, hasn’t hidden her truth from her family.

With all our heart we give the film 3 stars. Directed by Harish Vyas, Hum Bhi Akele, Tum Bhi Akele is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
