Fighter directed by Siddharth Anand has been a much anticipated film ever since its announcement. The film released on January 25th, and has been impressing viewers far and wide.
The film tells the story of India on the verge of a terrorist attack, particularly the Indian Air Force and Srinagar Air Force Station. Rakesh aka Rocky (Anil Kapoor), forms a team to combat the attack and calls them the Air Dragons. The team comprises of fighter pilots from different walks of life and they slowly form an unbreakable bond. One of the fighter pilots, Shamsher aka Patty (Hrithik Roshan), arrives to join the team despite Rocky having his doubts about him due to a past mishap. Minal Rathore aka Minni (Deepika Padukone), also carries a past which saw her breaking some stereotypes to get to where she is. The rest of the team includes Basheer aka Bashi (Akshay Oberoi), Sartaj aka Taj (Karan Singh Grover), among others. How this team works together to fight against the forces of terror forms the rest of the story.
One of the best elements of Fighter is the casting and how the entire group of fighter pilots end up giving you ultimate squad goals. Hrithik Roshan shines yet again in an action oriented role but also stood out for bringing out the emotional aspects of Patty. Deepika Padukone presents herself as Minni effortlessly and Anil Kapoor carries out Rocky with full conviction too. The rest of the cast including Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Mahesh Shetty, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Baveen Singh present memorable and sterling performances too. Rishabh Sawhney as the antagonist Azhar is excellent and possibly a real surprise package as this was his debut film.
While the first half could have been more engaging and the party songs could have been integrated better, the rest of the film takes you on an adventure never seen in Indian cinema before, and the patriotic themes will make you feel emotional too. Who better than Siddharth Anand to take risks and give the audience a thrilling and memorable cinematic experience? The director succeeds once again with Fighter and we can’t help but think what he will deliver next!
Vishal-Shekhar‘s music is the perfect soundtrack to this stylish film and Sanchit and Ankit Balhara’s background score is sure to give you goosebumps too.
Whether you’re an action fan, a masala entertainer fan, or simply a lover of cinema, Fighter is a must watch film and will surely leave you impressed.
