The story of the film revolves around two cousins Dolly and Kajal and about a secret shared by them.
Living in the suburbs of New Delhi, Dolly is a middle-class working mother with a son and a hardworking husband. They are excited as they plan to move to a newly built luxury apartment. There is a secret they keep to maintain their picture perfect lifestyle.
Kajal moves from rural India to live in a city, but the opportunities are very few for a young woman with little skills. So she works as a cyber-lover under the name Kitty on a dating app and meets a man. Now the two cousins who were critical of each other’s life, share their secrets and understand each other.
The film seems to be a simple story but has lot of complicated situation in both Dolly and Kajal’s life. How Dolly deals with her situation having a husband she can’t trust, starting a new whiskey love. And how Kajal turned Kitty realises her mistake for trusting someone blindly and then overcome her fears of her whiskey love too.
The most beautiful thing in the whole story is the bond of the two sister that no one can ever break. No matter what happens in the end ‘they will always have each others back’.
Director Alankrita Shrivastava story is about everyone who has some dreamy desire that they want to fulfill in life. It’s about life and their complication. It’s about relations and accepting people know matter what they are and how they want to be ahead. Ever Scene in the film is meaningful.
It is relatable and will make you feel good if you have some one like that in life. The director has done the wonderful job as it story has clearly shown the mirror to the society. One should live their own life without thinking what other think about them.
The dialogue of the film relate in every aspect of the story right when dolly meets his love and says, ‘tab bhi nahi denge hum pach sitare’. Or when kitty says, ‘asli sitare toh raat mai hi chamakte hai’. You will feel the correct sense related to stars and dreams that everyone want in life. The song of the film matches the story line. Even when DJ has a heart broken.
Talking about the performance, Konkona Sen Sharma as Mrs.Yadav or Dolly is superlative as her character moves through an entire arc in this film, exploring her relationship with her husband, her son Pappu and her mother.
While Bhumi Pednekar also dishes out a stellar act as Kajal and even as Kitty.
On the other hand the two guys, first Amol Parasher stands out as the sweet delivery boy, Osmaan. However is end of story will not only breaks dolly’s heart but our too. While secondly, you might feel anger on Vikrant Massey because of his side of story. As he plays Kajal’s lover, Pradeep and has done a fantastic job.
Apart from them other characters in the story like Aamir Bashir as Dolly’s disgruntled husband, Amit is superb. Also Kubbra Sait and Karan Kundra as are just too good with their characters.
We with all our heart give the film 3.5 stars. You can enjoy watching the film this weekend.
