Trivia: Sonam Kapoor is the daughter of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor and niece of filmmaker Boney Kapoor and actress Sridevi. A girl with varied interests like reading, shopping, playing squash, video games and painting, Sonam was never interested in acting. Direction and writing were where her interest in films lay.
Biography: Sonam Kapoor started life with a structured education and firm grounding in the process of film making. After completing her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir and receiving International Baccalaureate from the United World College of South East Asia, she started her career in the film industry by assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of Black (2005).
Sonam Kapoor made her debut with Saawariya (2007) alongside debutant male actor, Ranbir Kapoor. The film did not do well at the box-office; however Sonam Kapoor as an actress was recognized. Delhi – 6 (2009), her second film also failed at the box-office. She then appeared in I Hate Luv Storys (2010), which went on to become her first box-office hit. Aisha (2010), in which she starred with Abhay Deol, was again a box-office failure.
In 2011 she was seen in Thank You and Mausam. Both the films failed to do much at the box-office. She was seen in Abbas-Mustan’s thriller Players in 2012 but this film also turned out to be a box-office flop.
She was last seen in Bhaag Mika Bhaag which was opposite Farhan Akhtar and recently was in Bewakoofiyan with Ayushmaan Khuraana
