Director and filmmaker Annemarie Jacir’s film Palestine ’36 is currently in theaters across the country, in major cities like LA, Houston, Washington D.C., and NYC. The documentary film follows the uprising in Palestine in 1936 against the British government colonizing the nation state.
Jacir spoke with our host about her research behind the film, and finding video archives documenting moments shown in the film regarding the uprising and revolution. The duo also shared how British colonialism in the Middle East and South Asia have shared roots with similar geopolitical outcomes.
