To create a brand that appealed to the youth using Khadi needed designs and color palettes keeping today’s fashion and styles in mind and it wouldn’t have been possible without the brand’s co-founder, designer, and stylist Amritha Ram. The designer’s vision to give khadi a complete makeover that resonates with today’s fashion-forward men and women has contributed immensely to the brand’s popularity.
Commenting on the collection of KH House of Khaddar which will be showcased in Paris Fashion Week, designer and creative head of the brand Amritha Ram.
“With Paris Fashion Week (PFW), KH House of Khaddar is proudly presenting khadi denim. It is out of the box, but with a mentor and teacher like Kamal Haasan sir spearheading it, nothing is impossible. He comes up with these ideas, and I put my knowledge and technicality into them. It then expands from an idea to a strong base that we construct on. For PFW, we have dyed the khadi in pop colors. Who would have imagined that? We are super excited to present this collection because everything you look for in a spring-summer from KHHK is present. The global audience is going to love it simply because texturally, it has got so much grain and depth. That’s why we have called this collection Warp and Weft. I’m sure everyone’s going to love it”, she concludes.
About The Brand
KH House of Khaddar is a clothing line of authentic handloom blended with Indian Heritage and Western designs and silhouettes.
We will be working directly with the weavers and various craft communities across the state including block makers, printers and G.I. certified clusters. Blending Western silhouettes with Indian techniques is what sets us apart. The Khadi outfits we are putting together at KHHK are a refreshing take to what Khadi is usually synonymous with; dull, boring, or just too Indian. We keep away from going traditional and throw the fabric into a completely new light that is elegant, majestic yet trendy. The mission is to save the art of Khadi and make Khadi cool and relatable to the young urban market. It’s also our responsibility to build a sustainable future for these communities by creating new products that will target a different market. The story of House of Khaddar lies in bringing contemporary design to age-old weaves like Khadi – whether it’s the cut, feel or fit of the fabric.
