After releasing and performing his poetry & short stories between 2015 and 2018 and becoming a published author, Justin Chander has spent the last four years working on communicating his stories through writing music and actively participating in the artist community. Through the culmination of his commitment & effort, he is releasing his debut single, “The Outside,” a song about not fitting in but instead being comfortable in doing what you believe in.
Justin elaborates, “This is my first official release and I chose to release this song as my first official release because the energy felt right for this to be it. I wrote it about school.”
He wrote it about being unable to find his place in school and the feelings he felt inside. Chander originally began writing the song from a panic attack he experienced after classmates began talking about a party they had gone to and never being invited to any of them. With assistance from singer-songwriter, Prithvi Prajosh, Chander was able to fully bring to life the story he felt from his emotions maturing into more confidence and self-love. Furthermore, Chander graduated last year with a Master of Planning Degree and is continuing to pursue music as an Independent Artist. Music for him is his way of life and he wrote this song for the students. However, the message is universal for anyone who is “an outsider.” With influences such as M.I.A., Paramore, 2NE1 and Lorde and more recently, Halsey and Juice WRLD, Justin communicates punk rock through his music through an introspective way based on what he feels and based on his mental health.
Chander is currently in the process of putting together his debut mixtape, “25” which he wrote on his feelings during the pandemic about finding love, figuring out yourself and getting in touch with how you feel. He continues to write about how he feels. He speaks on his thoughts and values authenticity and the truth. You can keep up with his journey at https://linktr.ee/justinchander .
