Fans can pre-save Storm Before the Calm via Someplace Called Brooklyn/Soulspazm here. The album’s first three singles “Queen Things”, “Ripped Rubin” and “Brother Shanti” are all available for individual streaming and download. In addition, “Brother Shanti” and “Queen Things” have been joined by new companion videos, streaming now at the official Brooklyn Shanti YouTube channel here.

“STORM BEFORE THE CALM” arrives hot on the heels of this year’s acclaimed “YOGA TRAP,” available for streaming and download here. The album included such BBC radio supported singles such as “Bam Bam (feat. Mou Sultana)” and “Sobriety (feat. Circe Muse)”.

Where “YOGA TRAP” innovated the fusion of Trap and South Asian spiritual music with themes of mindfulness and self discovery, in primarily Bengali language – “STORM BEFORE THE CALM” deftly travels between the sonic palates of Lo-Fi Hip-Hop, Dancehall Reggae, and Cinematic Soundscapes. Topics of love and longing mixed with a hip-hop lyricist’s keen eye toward crafting passages around human emotions in modern times pervade “STORM BEFORE THE CALM”, returning back to the basics with Shanti’s distinct Brooklyn signature flow.

Handling most of the vocals, all of the production, engineering and artwork on “STORM BEFORE THE CALM” Brooklyn Shanti is releasing the album just ahead of the 2020 US elections during the Covid 19 era. Says the artist, “Shanti is a state of infinite calm and this moment in time feels like the storm I’m built to address head on due to our physical and spiritual struggles…music can help in a time of suffering.”
