Prita & Navin to world premiere their music video collaboration in Toronto

Get excited Toronto because Toronto is about to get very filmy!  The 12th Annual FILMI: Toronto’s South Asian Film Festival (FSAFF) will be held September 29 to October 2nd, 2011.  The event is sure to keep you entertained with a several music premieres.  This year will see the world premieres of “Back Down” by JUNO Nominated Vancouver fusion group A-Slam ; “Live The Light” by Toronto soul collective LAL ; and “Serious” by Toronto rap artist Jay Deala.

In addition to these premieres, FILMI will also be recognizing the work of UK based, award-winning Canadian director Jazz Virk, by screening several of the director’s short films and music videos, including a world premiere of his “Dance” video for award-winning Canadian recording artist Prita Chhabra featuring British R&B sensation Navin Kundra.

Special US guest artist Mandeep Sethi from San Francisco will also present world premieres of his two latest music videos at FILMI 2011, which the California born rapper directed, produced and edited himself.

The 4th annual music video segment at the FILMI South Asian Film Festival is programmed by Canadian music personality Raoul Juneja (a.k.a. Deejay Ra). The festival is currently the longest running South Asian film festival in North America, and the first to introduce a music video segment to celebrate South Asian artists from across Canada and around the world.

FILMI 2008 featured a world premiere of the “Singh Is Kinng” director’s cut starring rap legend Snoop Dogg in his Bollywood music video debut, while FILMI 2009 saw #1 Billboard artist Jay Sean receive a special FILMI Music Video Award.

The vision of the FILMI South Asian Film Festival is to promote, discover, introduce and celebrate cinematic endeavors by talented South Asian filmmakers, actors and musicians, and to highlight works with South Asian themes that can be brought to a mainstream audience.
