How to Liven Up Your Wardrobe in a Timeless Way

If you’re tired of the same old jeans and hoodie look you’ve been wearing for years, you might be feeling stuck in a rut. Making bolder fashion choices can be difficult especially if you’re a more introverted type of person.

However, taking things step by step and opening yourself up to new and more exciting wardrobe choices doesn’t have to be crazy! By adding a few different things here and there, you can change up your look, discover your own personal style and become more confident in yourself.

Ditch the Denim

A simple change to make to your usual style is to swap out your old, ratty jeans for something a little different. Depending on what styles you prefer, you could opt for a neutral tapered pant, patterned trousers or even a tulle skirt. Pairing your usual sweaters and tops with something a little different can make huge changes to how you look and feel without going too crazy.

Add a Pop of Colour

Buying into fast fashion trends might be something you want to avoid in order to make sure that your look remains simple and timeless. However, investing in a few colourful pieces to layer into your usually monochrome look can add some intrigue and fun to your outfits.

Think button-up shirts, sweaters, and even socks or jewellery in some fun colours that you feel comfortable in. Layered and paired with neutral pieces, these can spice up any outfit and help you to slowly but surely move out of your fashion comfort zone.

Pastel Preference

If you want to add some colour to your wardrobe, but you don’t feel bold enough, consider trying out some pastel colours instead. These colours are muted and far less striking and can be perfect for someone just starting out with new trends. Think baby blues and light pinks – these aren’t too bright but will add something fun to your ‘fit.

Invest in Staples

When you’re thinking of where and how to spend your fashion budget, always prioritise staple pieces. Spend more on items like jeans, coats, boots and jackets to ensure that you’re getting good quality clothing. These are pieces that can easily be paired with more trendy items when you start feeling a little more adventurous. Having a good baseline in your wardrobe is key.

Strange Style

If you’re looking to do something different with your wardrobe but crazy colours and patterns just aren’t for you, consider changing up the styles instead of the colours and textures. Swap out jeans for dresses, T-shirts for crop tops, try two-piece outfits or a summer dress that looked great on the mannequin but you didn’t feel brave enough to try.

Fashion is all about expressing yourself, and the more you experiment, the more you’ll be able to figure out what feels right to you. This doesn’t have to entail going crazy and buying all the passing trends. You can be a fashionista and keep it simple classic at the same time.
