Anushka Sharma in Sabyasachi
Let’s start with the obvious: Anushka Sharma made our entire year a little brighter at her wedding to cricket superstar Virat Kohli in Italy earlier this month. Part of that, of course, was the absolutely stunning wedding ensembles Sabyasachi designed for the pair. Anushka’s soft pink color scheme was perfectly complemented by the Tuscan countryside where the two wed, but it was her happiness and sheer joy shining through that made this look truly memorable. Peaches and cream were never so sweet!
Kareena Kapoor in Tarun Tahiliani Couture
Begum Bebo put all other Diwali looks to shame in this jaw-dropping Tarun Tahiliani sharara. Elegant, opulent, and fit for royalty, there’s not a thing we would change about this look!
Deepika Padukone in Sabyasachi
Ooh la la! Temperatures soared at GQ Fashion Nights when Deepika Padukone showed up in this barely there sari by Sabyasachi. On anyone else, the look might have been a bit too risqué, but Ms. Padukone pulled it off with class and panache.
Sonam Kapoor in Anamika Khanna
Where do we even begin with this look?! From head to toe, it’s beautiful, daring, dramatic, and completely on-brand for Sonam Kapoor. The color scheme against the backdrop of the Mediterranean was breathtaking, and while the look might have seemed over-accessorized on someone else, Sonam carried it with confidence and sex appeal. Brava!
Rakul Preet in BENNCH
Rakul Preet took a major risk with this BENNCH fusion sari, and boy, did it pay off! The South star, who is poised to make her Bollywood debut opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Aiyaari, looked cute as a button in this cheery yellow sari and flared polka dot blouse. But what really tipped the scales was her funky Misho hairpiece!
Tabu in Shantanu and Nikhil
Another beauty in yellow was the legendary Tabu, sporting a mustard-colored silk sari by Shantanu and Nikhil. Tassel earrings and a sheer blouse gave the otherwise traditional sari an edge, and her sleek side-swept hair and smokey eye finished out the look.
Madhuri Dixit in Tarun Tahiliani
The evergreen beauty Madhuri Dixit stole the show at Anushka and Virat’s Mumbai reception in this Tarun Tahiliani sari. Kundan jhumkis and an elegant updo were all Ms. Dixit needed to let the shimmery, glamorous-yet-traditional sari work its magic.
Aditi Rao Hydari in Raw Mango
2017 proved once again that Aditi Rao Hydari is a fashion superstar, who pulled off this tricky Raw Mango lehenga with ease. Even more impressive is her ability to pull off milkmaid braids at the same time! No matter what, Aditi makes it work, as we’ve seen time and time again.
Kriti Sanon in Shantanu and Nikhil
It goes without saying that it’s easy to take risks and play around with unconventional silhouettes when you’re 10 feet tall and built like a supermodel. But even by those standards, this Shantanu and Nikhil fusion suit was pretty ingenious. Kriti cinched the black dupatta with a belt from Topshop, which she then paired with matching silver Needledust jootis. Overall, it was a look that was equal parts cheery and dramatic.
Deepika Padukone in Sabyasachi
Deepika graced the Marathi Filmfare Awards in this sheer floral embroidered Sabyasachi sari with extended pallu, and boy, did she look gorgeous! It’s not often that we get to see DP let her hair down, literally, and this look was a reminder that she can switch it up and compete with the best of them when she really makes an effort.
