3 Ways To Reach More Customers

It’s the question that every small business asks itself: How do I reach more customers? No matter whether you’re selling high-end tech products or you own a small bakery, every business needs customers to survive. The traditional method of cold calling can actually be surprisingly effective if you use it correctly and contact people who will actually be helped by your product or service. If you don’t fancy that (who does?), then these techniques can also return excellent results.

Sponsorships

You don’t need to have thousands of pounds at your disposal to benefit from sponsorships. In fact, it’s possibly more helpful to think of sponsorship as a partnership. By aligning yourself with a small podcast, blog or YouTube channel that is relevant to what you do you can build your audience among people who are actually likely to be interested in your product.

The actual terms of your sponsorship deal will depend on what you negotiate – you don’t necessarily have to provide money. Perhaps you could donate some of your product for use on the show that you sponsor, or even mutually promote each other’s businesses. You won’t know the right deal until you make contact and start talking. Start by identifying relevant potential partners, and then start reaching out. You’ll be surprised at how effective it can be, and at what unexpected opportunity reaching out can bring.

Use a platform with reach

If you’re looking to reach more people, it makes sense to get yourself onto a platform that already has a huge audience. A lot of small businesses are doing this by listing their products on Amazon. By doing this they are exposed to a huge new audience, and they are automatically trusted by potential customers just because they are on the platform.

It can be competitive trying to create an Amazon listing that appears in the first two or three results or is searched for by customers in the first place. Understand who your existing customers are

If you’re looking for more customers, presumably the end goal is to make more sales. Before you go rushing off to start a marketing campaign to find new customers, it’s worth thinking about your existing ones.

Your existing customers are people who are already interested in you, and so it’s worth learning from them. Do some work to understand what it is that they want, what need of theirs is your company addressing? You can do this through surveys and requests for feedback, which you can incentivize people to take part in.

Once you have an understanding of this you’ll be in a great position to either sell more to your existing customers or use what you have learned to attract more customers.
