With increased access to smart devices and deeper penetration of high-speed internet, our lives have changed completely. Everything that we do, is in some way or the other, linked to the internet. Be it gaming, shopping, working, or connecting with our friends and family. We rely on the internet for everything. We search for new movies, new products, or the best betting sites in India, all on the internet.

Increased reach of the internet has also led to the rise of streaming services, which has helped filmmakers, and makers of web series reach a wider audience. Some actors who did not find much success in mainstream cinema have gotten their due, thanks to the increased popularity of web series. Let’s have a look at who currently are the best actors in India, working either on web series or movies.

Jaideep Ahlawat

Hailing from Haryana, Jaideep Ahlawat originally wanted to join the Army, but was unable to do so despite multiple attempts. He then pursued acting by joining various stage shows in Punjab. He made his debut in Bollywood through a short film named Narmeen but was first noticed for his negative role in Khatta Meetha starring Akshay Kumar in 2010.

He received much acclaim for his role in Gangs of Wasseypur, and also bagged a role in Kamal Hassan’s super hit movie Vishwaroopam. Since then, he has acted in various movies like Rockstar, Raazi, and Baaghi 3.

He is best known for his portrayal of Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary in the 2020 web series Paatal Lok.

Pankaj Tripathi

Popularly known as Kaleen Bhaiya, acting was a passion for Pankaj Tripathi since his younger days. Born in Bihar as the youngest amongst four children, his father was a priest and a farmer. He used to play different roles during festivities in his village and was much appreciated by the villagers.

During college life, he meddled in politics as well as theatre acting, and ultimately joined the National School for Drama, from where he graduated in 2004. His first big break was in 2006, in the form of Omkara, starring Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgn. Since then, he has acted in more than 60 movies and television shows, including critically acclaimed roles in Stree, Newton, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Bareily ki Barfi. Mirzapur web series is his biggest claim to fame, in which he plays the role of Kaleen Bhaiya, a drug and arms mafia.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui

One of the most underrated actors initially in his career, Nawazuddin is the only actor in the world to have his 8 movies screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. While acting was not his first choice, he joined the National School of Drama in Delhi, as he was drawn towards acting after watching a play.

After graduating in 1999, he did many small roles in movies like Sharfarosh, Black Friday New York and Dev D. He became widely known after the movie Peepli Live, where he played a journalist.

Since then, he has played memorable roles in movies like Lunchbox, Manto, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Manjhi: The Mountain Man, and the web series Sacred Games.

Taapsee Pannu

She started her career as a software engineer and was led to acting after being selected for a Channel V talent show. She acted in various television commercials and modeled for print advertisements.

Her big-screen debut was a Telugu movie and went on to play lead roles against acclaimed actors like Ravi Teja, Dhanush, and Mammootty. She debuted in Bollywood with the remake of Chashme Baddoor, starring alongside Rishi Kapoor, Siddharth, and Ali Zafar.

She received commercial and critical success with the movie Pink in 2016 and went on to act in movies like Mulk, Judwa 2, Manmarziyaan, Mission Mangal, and Saand ki Aankh.

She has received much praise for her latest movie Thappad and will be portraying cricketer Mithali Raj in the upcoming biographical movie Shabaash Mithu.
