Unconventional Male Protagonist

The male protagonist, Aryaman, played by Fahmaan Khan, is not the typical angry young man. After experiencing pain in childhood, he ensures not to follow in his father’s footsteps instead of inflicting that pain on others. He knows his responsibilities towards Krishna and Mohan and always gives his best to fulfill them. He treats Krishna and Mohan as equals, unlike the others who treat them differently because they are from a lower-income part of society.

Unique storyline

Krishna Mohini brings together various concepts which blend seamlessly. These include the sibling bond of Krishna and Mohan, the unexpected love story of Krishna and Aryaman, and Mohan’s journey to being his true self. These concepts are slowly unfolding now that Krishna and Mohan live in Aryaman’s home in Mumbai.

The chemistry between Aryaman & Krishna

Right from the first episode, where Krishna saved Aryaman from drowning, the potential of Fahmaan and Debattama’s pairing was evident. As the two share moments together, their chemistry gets better and better. There is beauty in the smallest of moments with Krishna and Aryaman. For example, they discussed making coffee in a coffee maker, which Krishna had not seen before. It was cute, and the discussion they had was delightful to watch.

Progressive narratives

It is reassuring to see a show like Krishna Mohini taking a bold step forward and showing the lives of members of the LGBT community. Mohan knows that he feels like a female but trapped in the body of a male. We also see Krishna and the greater society’s hesitance to accept individuals like Mohan. There was also a scene with a pride march. While this was not shown in all territories (probably due to uncertainty about censorship in different countries), it was commendable that they took the step. Hopefully, more channels will become brave and show us more stories which involve modern-day concepts that affect different parts of society.

Fresh feeling

Different elements make a difference in a show. The set of Aryaman’s home is quite different to other homes we see onscreen. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it also serves the daily incidents well. The costumes are lovely too. Aryaman’s costumes are simple, and he wears casual clothes at home, unlike how we see men in suits most of the time. Krishna sticking to her way of daily dressing is also commendable. Meanwhile, Sidharth and Ananya seem quite fashionable with their modern styles. All the characters have perfect costumes bringing out the realistic feel of the show and their characters. These are just some elements which help give that fresh feeling to the show.
Krishna Mohini airs every day, on Colors TV at 7 p.m. in India and South Africa, 9 p.m. in the UK, and ET at 9 p.m. & PT at 6 p.m. in the US.
