Female Characters Ruling the TV Screens this International Women’s Day

Throughout history, the power of women has been highlighted. In our modern times, women are making further strides to make their mark in the world. Indian television demonstrates many examples of strong and independent women who are inspiring so many viewers, of all genders worldwide.

Here’s a look at some of the female characters who are ruling our television screens at the moment:

Sai – Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin

Since the start of the show, Sai has always been a woman who  stood up for her dreams and all that she believes in. Along with being a doctor, Sai is also a proud mother who, is balancing her professional and personal responsibilities well. Her equation with her better half may be complicated, at the moment, but that does not take away her fierce and shining spirit. Ayesha Singh portrays every shade of Sai perfectly, making her even more lovable!

Katha – Katha Ankahee

One of the characters winning hearts worldwide is Katha from Katha Ankahee, played by Aditi Dev Sharma. Katha is an architect who, after much struggle, landed a job at a top company. Katha looks graceful in her formal clothing, and carries out her duties to perfection at work. At the same time, Katha is a doting mother to her son, who went through his share of struggles medically at a tender age. No matter how many challenges come their way, Katha’s spirit will never die down. Aditi Dev Sharma once again delivers a strong and power-packed performance, this time as Katha.

Akshara – Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

One of the most loved characters on television is no doubt, Akshara from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. After a recent leap, Akshara has been raising her son Abhir, while at the same time pursuing studies. This showed Akshu’s determination to give her and Abhir a better life. Akshara also made a bold move by choosing her self-respect and making it clear that a relationship with no respect is not worth it. Pranali Rathod makes Akshara convincing and relatable with her fine portrayal.

Prarthana – Naagin 6

It cannot be an easy task when you’re the Sarvashreshth Maha Shesh Naagin, responsible for the protection of so many lives. Prarthana carries out her duties as Naagin with full fierceness and strength; on the other hand, she is a wife, and now a mother too. Tejasswi Prakash pours in the conviction and energy needed to make Prarthana a symbol of love and power with her performance.

Lakshmi – Bhagya Lakshmi

Often misunderstood and taunted, but nothing stops her kind and loving nature. This is Lakshmi from Bhagya Lakshmi. Lakshmi has an undying spirit of kindness and goodness no matter what situations life throws at her. Often mistaken as her weakness, Lakshmi’s patience and understanding are her strength. Aishwarya Khare portrays Lakshmi with grace and perfection at all times too.

Saavi – Saavi Ki Savaari

Saavi Ki Savaari began telling the story of Saavi being the only female auto driver in Ujjain. Saavi’s earnings were the main source of income for her household. Post her marriage, Saavi has been balancing her responsibilities towards both her maternal family and her in-laws. Saavi is constantly growing as an individual, as she always works towards improving her professional and personal lives.  Through her many challenges, we have seen how Saavi does not give up and always looks at the glass as being half full. Her relationship with her mother-in-law is also a stand-out bond on the show. Samridhii Shukla shines in every episode as Saavi, and one can look forward to always seeing new shades of her character and performance.

Sahiba – Teri Meri Doriyaann

Circumstances have mostly been unfair to Sahiba, but she never stopped working hard and perfecting her purpose of being an artist. Sahiba always stands for accepting people for who they are, and honesty is indeed always the best policy. Sahiba has just been married and she did not receive the warmest of welcomes. This does not deter Sahiba from standing up for her and all she believes in. Himanshi Parashar delivers a solid performance as Sahiba, and we cannot wait for her journey to unfold further on the show.
