KO! No Biggie! How Rohan Raja is Dominating in the Ring

After his parents migrated from India to the UK, Rohan Raja was born in Crawley, West Sussex, England. At the age of 6-7, Rohan’s family moved to Belgium, and later on, his family relocated to Australia, where Rohan spent most of his life starting from the age of 8. His love for WWE began at the age of four when he sat with his granddad, father, and brother and grew to love the thrill of WWE. His mother and sister also sat and watched WWE from time to time. Shawn Michaels and The Rock were the biggest inspirations for Rohan while growing up. He admired them so much that while he got older, the art of wrestling inspired him by the likes of Kurt Angle and Randy Orton.

I had the honor of interviewing such an inspiring figure in the WWE world, especially seeing Indian representation very low in the world of sports; it’s such an experience to see how the new generation is inspiring young boys and girls to pursue dominating the professional sports world while breaking generational barriers.

Rohan Raja Interview

1.)What are some things that motivate you?

To continuously better myself. My biggest competition is me; I compete against myself in wrestling training, the gym, and the kitchen. This motivates me to keep bettering myself to be the best version of myself both mentally and physically.

2.) What’s one competition that you can never forget and have fond memories of?

Obstacle course racing. I LOVE doing them, and I used to get competitive with myself and others I was racing against. One of my most vital physical attributes is bodyweight strength, so I can pull myself up and down ropes, climb bars, you name it. I can do it with ease. So the priceless reactions I would get when I got to an obstacle would be pretty funny.

3.) What’s your pre-fight song?

So many wrestlers listen to music before they perform, but I like to be left alone with my thoughts and get a good warm-up. This is where I can get into character and get myself ready!

4.) Did your parents support your decision and career choice?

Both my parents were 100% supportive, but my mum has been so supportive of me since I first had the dream as a child. She was always the one to tell me to follow my dreams, and that’s precisely what I did. She’s no longer with us as she sadly passed away a few years back. She’s still and will forever be my driving force to continue to be better and reach my goals. I love you, mum!

5.) How did covid affect you and your career?

It was tough, to be honest. Not knowing what could happen, it was out of my control. I’ve always been in control of my decisions, and this was the first time I was like, um, I literally can’t do anything. It delayed many things, but it only “delayed” as it all worked out in the end.

6.) Any advice to people trying to pursue a goal of fighting WWE? what would you tell your younger self?

Great question! I think the best thing I could say is it’s not going to be easy, and you’ll have to sacrifice so much to do this. Your relationships will change as it’s just inevitable when you are away from home. You need to realize this before you commit your life to it!
I’ve always thought about what I would say to my younger self. I guess I would say. Get ready for the rollercoaster ride of your life!
