Youth are the building blocks towards a better future. National Youth Day or Yuva Diwas is observed in India on January 12, commemorating the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. Calling it a very important day in our lives, Fidaai actor Ranaksh Rana shares his opinion.

“Youth today is overexposed to information and social media. But I don’t think too much information is dangerous as it all depends on how much clarity one has. I believe there’s nothing called too much information because the information is never enough. The confused can get indecisive with even two bits of information, while the sorted will know what to do even with a mountain load of information. The trick is to be sure and sorted. So the first thing I want to tell them is to not judge or compare, work on themselves and inspire others and find inspiration in everything,” he says.

Youth is the hope of our future. According to Ranaksh, there are two types of people, those who are sorted and those who are confused.

“Hope for our future can be those who are sorted, who know about themselves— aware of their likes, dislikes, passion, motivation, and direction. Then there are two types of confused folks too, those who realize on time, even after struggles, and those who let the fear take over. If you believe in experiments, you can find clarity however confused you are. So one has to believe in high risk, high gain. I follow the same,” he adds.

Many opine that youth today can bring about a social change but at times their political views affect it. However, the actor disagrees.

“Those who want to bring about change, they do. Those who don’t can find enough excuses. If your views affect your will to act, whether it’s your political view or your moral view, or any perspective that you have, that means the will to act is not strong enough. The beginning would be to change your own life, despite limitations and constraints. And we can’t generalize by saying the advancement in technology has made the youth lazy. What matters is how you use technology and why. If you feel going to a store to get groceries is a waste of time and that time can be better utilized in doing something more productive, you can order online using an app. That’s not being lazy, that’s being resourceful. It’s all about the intention, about being true to yourself,” he explains.

On his parting note, the one piece of advice that the actor wants to give.

“Live in the moment, there is no tomorrow. Create and inspire.”
