2021’s Best Newcomers of Television

2021 is a year best known for a surge of fresh talent and beautiful faces. We want to highlight the top 20 according to us with no particular ranking since each individual won the hearts of the audience with their stellar performances. The 2021’s list of Top 20 newcomers of Indian television wants to explore raw and upcoming talent and put them in the spotlight for people who have not yet had the chance to see their work.

Alice Kaushik

Actress Alice Kaushik plays the lively, innocent  Raavi on the hugely popular television show “Pandya Store” and fans can’t get enough of her and Shiva.

Seen as Krish Pandya on the “Pandya Store”, Mohit just shines as the fun-loving Krish on an ensemble cast with so many well-known faces.

Although he worked on a few Telugu shows prior to “Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali”, his portrayal as Raghav Rao caused so much stir that he was in the top 20 list of Indian television leading males within the first week of his debut. Richa makes a debut as a leading lady with “Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha”, where she plays the strong-willed Nandini. Her dialogue delivery and command of diction make her a newbie to watch out for.

Although a strong supporting character on many shows, this marks the first time for Ankit Gupta to star as a lead character in a television show. With “Udaariyaan”, his character might be disliked for his actions; however, Ankit is adored by fans. This is a testament to his performance that someone so well-loved can play such a flawed, grey character with poise and honesty.

Isha Malviya

Another member from the “Udaariyaan” team makes one of the top newcomers of Indian television this year as well. Isha is known as a spectacular dancer and keeps her fans amazed by posting her dancing videos in which she beautifully showcases her stunning moves. Surabhi Das

Next is Surabhi, who touched the hearts of so many with her debut. Surabhi plays the role of a girl from Sikkim who falls in love with a Marathi boy and shifts to Mumbai to be with him. However, her character has to deal with discrimination and face deep-rooted prejudices. And boy oh boy, she excels and I can hardly remember this marks her debut.

Anchal Sahu makes her spot on the list with 2 remarkable performances this year. One is the role of grown-up Bondita in “Barrister Babu” and second, her debut as a leading lady earlier in the year on the show “Kyun Uthe Dil Chod Aye”. Talk about versatility and the ability to shine in not one but 2 different characters in a single year.

Aetashaa Sansgiri

Moving on next to Aetashaa Sansgiri, who is playing the titular role of Ahilyabai Holkar in the historical drama “Punyashlok Ahilyabai”. She has an exceedingly subtle and organic approach to her character’s emotions. This has really made her stand out.

Chandni Sharma

To continue forth, we next have model-turned-actress Chandni Sharma. She plays Akanksha on “Kaamnaa”, where her character resonates with both Millenials and Gen Z for being a strong and ambitious woman. She plays a very relatable character that had the audience connect with her instantly.

Mayuri Kapadane

Mayuri makes her Hindi television debut in “Teri Laadli Main” as an unwanted mute girl child Bitti who fights for her father’s acceptance against all odds. This character is out of her comfort zone and she does full justice to the role and conveys emotions solely through expressions.

Gouri Agarwal

Gouri makes her debut with “Amma Ke Babu Ki Baby” as Baby, a spoiled city girl. This comedy of errors to romance story allows Gouri to play a diverse range of emotions and show off her versatility. We look forward to seeing Gouri continuing to take up more unique stories and characters like this.
