Singer Pallavi Ishpuniyani drops her third original, ‘Tere Wangu’, a contemporary folk single

Pallavi Ishpuniyani is a Mumbai-based singer-songwriter, trained in Indian Classical Music. Having lived in different parts of India, she can speak various languages, which adds to her musical skill set as well. Heavily influenced by India’s folk music, Pallavi knew from an early age that music was her calling. She also enjoys experimenting with music and singing in different languages and genres.

Pallavi embarked on her journey as an independent artist earlier this year. She released her debut independent single ‘Night Out’ in February, 2021. which was inspired by the popular folk melody ‘Sanu Neher Wale Pul Te Bulake’ originally by Noor Jehan. The track was a modern and peppy dance number that figuratively calls out to a loved one followed by her second single ‘Sehreyan Wala’, released in April 2021, which was her original version of the popular Punjabi Wedding folk song ‘Aaya Laadiye’, where they’ve tried to add in their own flavour and modern spin to the song at the same time staying true to the beauty of the original song.

Now, she’s back with her third track ‘Tere Wangu’ and she has several original singles lined up for release over the coming months.

Talking about the song, she says: ‘Tere Wangu’ is a contemporary folk song with a blend of modern production magic dust. It’s a Punjabi love song. As in any romance, there are interludes of separation and long periods of waiting, this song happens to be placed in the same. I was excited right since the inception of the song as it has that melody that stays with you is what I think. The video aims at preserving the song’s emotional purity. Hence, the minimalism while exploring the emotions of the character by traveling with her as she sings her heart out. Everyone involved in this project gave a piece of their heart and soul in capturing the core feel of the song.

It was such great fun creating ‘Tere Wangu’, which is penned by Kumar Sagar, composed by Kumar Sagar and Pallavi. The track is produced by Avijeet Satapathy & mixed/mastered by Praveen Muralidhar, all of them are fantastic and it’s her pleasure working with them. I hope the audience loves the song as much as I do, she added.
